Team USA basketball is putting all its chips on the table by sending its golden boys to Beijing: Kobe Bryant, Jason Kidd, LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony and Dwight Howard. In 1992 the “Dream Team” splattered its opponents with an average of 43.8 points per victory and won the gold.  In 2004 however they fell flat on their faces and barely won a Bronze.What will happen at the Beijing Olympics?

Alyson Felix was only 18 when she broke onto the world scene with a silver medal in the 200m running race at the 2004 Athens Olympics.  Since then she has defeated 2004 gold-medal winner Veronica Campbell of Jamaica in the 200m at the 2007 World Championships in Osaka Japan. She also led the U.S. team to gold in the 4x100m and 4x400m relays in Osaka, for hopefully for a gold at the Beijing Olympics.

reddy Adu, soccer phenom has been labeled “America’s Pele” at the unbelievable age of 14, but has struggled since then to live up to all the hype in America. The now 19 year old shines the brightest on the international stage becoming the only player to score in the under-17 and under-20 FIFA World cups.  With Adu, the U.S. team has qualified for Beijing with four goals in three games during the qualifying tournament, including two  goals against Canada which sowed it up for the Beijing Olympics.

Chellsie Memmel, Nastia Liukin, Alicia Sacramone, Samantha Peszek, Shawn Johnson and Bridget Sloan will be heading to the Beijing Olympics Gymnastics Competition.  This is an entirely new team since the Athens Olympics where a silver medal was claimed, including an individual all –around gold for Carly Patterson.  Who will be standing on the medal stand this time?
