march madness

Here we are at March Madness again! Some NCAA Basketball teams end up with a flat, easy route to the national semi-finals.  Other teams are totally messed up by the seedings and end up with the hard, uphill route to the semi-finals. Here are the top four teams in each division and who got what:

East Region:
  • Easy Route: North Carolina has the easiest.  The Tar Heels face Arkansas and Indiana in the second round with Notre Dame and Washington State, who are overseeded.
  • Hard Route: Tennessee Volunteers were placed in #1 seed's bracket up against either under-seeded Butler or South Alabama
Midwest Region:
  • Easy Route: Kansas Jayhawks should get to sweet sixteen without a problem. University of Nevada Las Vegas or Kent State will not be a problem.  Vanderbilt is overseeded.
  • Hard Route: Wisconsin Badgers has it rough. They should not have been a #2 over Duke. They face UNC or Kansas City Wildcats and Michael Beasley in 2nd round. Then they get Georgetown Hoyas!
South Region:
  • Easy Route: Texas Longhorns might have received #1 seed if they had beaten Kansas but they are up against Miami (easy) and University of Tennessee who already beat Saint Mary's by 19. After that regionals are in Houston.
  • Hard Route: Memphis Tigers will have either hot Pittsburgh or tough Michigan State in the Sweet 16 and then a trip to Houston to potentially play Texas in Elite 8.
West Region:
  • Easy Route: UCLA Bruins have the route of any #1 seed. No one in their half of the bracket could touch them except for University of Connecticut. they get weakest #2, Duke and #3 Xavier.
  • Hard Route: Duke Blue Devils has it rough also. In the 2nd round they get West Virginia (hot) and Arizona (talented). After that Xavier will be able to hang with them. Won't reach Final 4.
