Last month Charlie Mullins participated in and finished the London Marathon (26 miles).  He claimed he was 101 but was actually 94. He didn't make the Guinness World Records, but who cares!  He finished the marathon in a little over 10 hours and he did it for the Rhys Daniels Trust, a charity supporting seriously ill children and their families. He is also the father of 17 and still works for a plumbing company in southeast London washing vans.

Guinness World records does list Greek, Dimitrion Yordanidis as the oldest man to complete a marathon on his 98th birthday. He won the Athens Marathon in 7 hours 35 minutes on October 10, 1976. The youngest Marathon finisher was 5 years old from Texas.  He completed the race in 5 hours, 29 minutes.
