Everyone wants to know something someone else doesn't know, especially if the other people are show-offs and know-it-alls. Here are a variety sports trivia terms and their meanings that will help you out in your quest to get the best of the know-it-alls.
Flea flicker (football): A trick play in which a forward pass immediately follows a lateral or handoff. Fork Ball (baseball): a pitch delivered with the index and middle fingers that gives the appearance of a fork. The goal is to have the ball drop as it nears the plate. Piton (mountain climbing): a metal peg hammered into cracks in a rock to help a climber ascend or descend. There is a ring at the top of the piton through which the rope is passed. Whitewash (all sports): When the opponent gets no score on the board. X Ring (Rifle Shooting): A circle within the bull's eye used to really separate who is the winner. The shooter with the most shots within the x-ring is the winner. Penholder Grip (table tennis): The paddle part of the bat is held between the thumb and forefinger with the face of the bat facing down. The rest of the players fingers hold onto the handle of the bat. Honor (golf): The player who has had the lowest number of strokes on the previous hole is the first to drive off the tee at the next hole. Hacker (tennis): A tennis player who is inexperienced (little skill and experience).
