The East of England is set to become home to the world’s first indoor winter sports resort in late 2012. As well as housing Europe’s largest indoor ski slope, the 350 acre site, SnOasis, a privately funded development, has been specifically designed to become the a center of excellence for winter sports athletes. Fourteen different sports disciplines will be brought together and provided with world-class training facilities. 

Skiing, snow boarding, tubing and luge: At the heart of the complex will be Europe’s largest indoor ski slope, measuring 415 meters long by 70 meters wide, with a 100 meter vertical drop, giving an exhilarating run to both dedicated and fun seeking skiers. The slope will not only provide family fun, it features training, competition and championship facilities for elite athletes in a number of internationally recognized disciplines, including: downhill, combined, slalom, freestyle, moguls, aerials, big air, half pipe, ski across, luge and tubing.

Ice climbing: 16 meter high ice wall at SnOasis will enable a total beginner to enjoy the winter sports with qualified instructors to help you to get started. They will teach correct techniques needed to safely reach the top on both the ice and dry walls. More experienced climbers looking to hone their skills should welcome the challenge the ice wall presents, as it features varying degrees of difficulty and a constantly changing surface.

Figure skating, hockey, curling and speed racing: The ice rink at SnOasis measuring 60 meters by 30 meters will provide an international standard venue for amateur and professional teams to utilize for competitions and championships. There will be  seating for 1,500 spectators surrounding the rink. Speed skaters will  have a 400 meter all year round international standard track to help them develop their skills.

Apart from the exceptional range of winter sports, SnOasis will offer visitors a variety of other sports and activities. For the dedicated athlete these include, a multi-purpose sports hall, health and fitness center, national standard triathlon course and a 1.5 kilometer roller blading track.
